It’s a common place that cats have nine lives, but have you ever heard of a cat with two faces?

Though it is extremely rare, it’s true. A two-faced black cat was born healthy this week in Port Charlotte, Florida, WWSB ABC-7 reported.
Two-faced cats are called Janus cats, named after the Roman god who had two faces.
Owners Nash Hand and Amanda Forsythe named the cat Harvey Dent after Two-Face, the villain from the Batman series. Aaron Eckhart just recently played the character in the 2008 film The Dark Knight.
Hand said that the television news station could not believe what he was telling them, “[She said] ‘What are you talking about? What do you mean two faces?’ I said it has two faces! This cat has two faces!”
Forsythe also explained the cat’s two faces to reporters, “They simultaneously work together, the two faces. When he eats on one side it looks like he is eating on the other. When he meows it comes out of both sides.”
Janus cats are not born often and since they have a lot of health problems, don’t normally live long, Local10.com reports. But there are plenty of cases of Janus cats living to an old age, in fact, a Janus cat just made it into the Guinness Book of World Records after turning twelve years old last year.
Harvey Dents’ human owners needed help, and got in contract with Dr. Greg Fluharty at a Port Charlotte Animal Clinic.
“Everything is probably pretty good as far as the GI track and also the lungs, which sound normal. Respiration and heart rate were normal for a kitten that age,” said Dr. Fluharty after examining the cat.
Harvey Dent’s owners have scheduled him for neurology tests next week to further access his health.
Hand and Forsythe told Local10.com reporters that they would like for Harvey Dent to have the best chance at a healthy life.
Forsythe believes, “It shouldn’t be killed just because it’s a little different.”
