Diamondbacks’ batting coach Baylor returns to team

by Associated Press on October 1, 2011

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Arizona Diamondbacks batting coach Don Baylor is back with the team on Saturday for Game 1 of the NL division series after fainting the day before in the clubhouse.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson says the medical staff believes the 62-year-old Baylor had a reaction to medication.

“He’s in the clubhouse. He’ll be in the dugout,” Gibson said. “They tested him for everything and it seems like he maybe had a reaction to some medication.”

Baylor is holding regular team meetings with the hitters before Arizona took on the Milwaukee Brewers.

“We’re trying to make sure he’s OK. He’s acting like, ‘Come on,'” Gibson said. “We’re happy to see him in great spirits today.”

Baylor collapsed after eating breakfast in the clubhouse, and one of the team’s trainers caught him as he fell. General manager Kevin Towers said Friday that Baylor hadn’t shown any signs that he was feeling ill, either at a team dinner on Thursday night or Friday morning.

Baylor, who played 19 seasons in the major leagues and was the 1979 AL MVP with the California Angels, joined Gibson’s staff in the offseason.

After managing the Chicago Cubs from 2000 to 2002, Baylor spent time on the coaching staffs of the New York Mets, Seattle Mariners and Colorado Rockies. Baylor managed the Rockies from 1993 to 1998.

Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué.
