Suffolk County sheriffs are once again offering free ice in Yaphank and Riverhead, plus a third location in Smithtown on Thursday to help the nearly 100,000 Long Island Power Authority customers still without power after Tropical Storm Irene.
About 2,000 lbs. of ice will be available on a first come, first serve basis from 4 -7 p.m. behind Smithtown Town Hall on Main Street off Redwood Lane in Smithtown.
There is no charge for the ice and there is a limit of one cooler fill-up per car. Residents must bring their own cooler.
Ice will also be available for the third day at the corner of Yaphank Avenue and Glover Drive in Yaphank and at Suffolk County jail, 100 Center Dr. in Riverhead.
