As the East Coast is bracing down for Hurricane Irene, the West Coast is rolling out the red carpet for the 28th Annual VMAs.

This year’s VMAs will air live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. Sunday at 9 p.m.

Tonight, some famous faces viewers will see include Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Zoe Saldana, Rick Ross, Seth Rogen, Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Odd Future, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Lautner, Drake, Joe Jonas, Jared Leto, and JB Smoove from HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” among others.

VMA performers include Lady Gaga, Adele, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Young The Giant. Just this past weekend, MTV announced that Beyoncé will return to the VMA stage for a performance.

Beyonce has been nominated for three Moonmen this year including “Best Female Video,” “Best Choreography” and “Best Cinematography.”

Jessie J was announced as VMA house artist.

Also for this year’s VMAs, will be an Amy Winehouse honor. To celebrate the life and music of Amy Winehouse, the “2011 MTV Video Music Awards” will pay special tribute to the late British songstress with music legend, Tony Bennett.  Winehouse and her hero, Bennett, recently recorded the duet, “Body and Soul,” for his upcoming Duets II album, out September 20th. Mr. Bennett will introduce the tribute, which includes unveiling footage from their recording session together.
