A 33-year-old New York City school teacher from Bay Shore has been accused of having sex with a student under the age of 17 five months ago, Nassau County police said.
Tara Driscoll pleaded not guilty to third-degree rape and criminal sexual act.
She drove the boy to the Capri Motel in Lynbrook where they engaged in sexual relations on March 19, police said.
The victim reportedly remained quiet until his mother found out and contacted authorities.
Driscoll is assigned to the Campus Magnet High School in Queens. A board of education spokeswoman said Driscoll was removed from the classroom in May.
She surrendered to Special Victims Squad detectives Friday.
Defense attorney Virginia Lopreto declined comment.
Bail for Driscoll was set at $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash.
She faces up to four years in prison and is due back in court Aug. 15.
