Hey ray,
You are mistaken about a few things. The nets arena is being built, not rebuilt. It’s brand new.

Rome and NYC have absolutely nothing to do with this debate. They couldn’t be any less relevant.
Our coliseum is in dire need of repairs, so much so that it will be condemned in a few years. And when it falls apart it definitely won’t be a tourist attraction. Well, maybe in 2000 years it will.

The team is not being greedy, just practical. You clearly aren’t in favor of a new arena. Would you also like to shut down all parks and museums as well? People are leaving LI in droves because of this closed-minded attitude that inhibits progress. Maybe you don’t care about that, but I bet you will care when the county loses the millions in tax revenue that they currently generate (even with the lowest average attendance in the NHL).

If they get a new rink and actually become successful, it would dramatically improve the financial stability of the county, as well as quality of life for many of its residents. You have apparently been sold a bill of goods by a group of greedy and clueless politicians.

Instead of rebuilding our infastructure money is wasted rebuilding Brooklyn Nets arena (WIP), Shea and Yankee stadium and the Meadowlands.

And they are putting in useless bike lanes throuoghout NYC.
The Nassau Coliseum is being built for a millionaire on our backs. It was only opened in 1972. The Coliseum in Rome is over 2000 years old.

If the Islanders don't like it, join the Giants and Dodgers and move your greedy assets out of here.

Sorry Carol (Alt), you are wrong.
