Apparent Suicide Prompts Seaford Bomb Scare [Video]

by Rashed Mian on July 28, 2011
Nassau County police said a man was found dead at the Seaford train station Thursday.

Nassau County police said a man was found dead at the Seaford train station Thursday.

A man was found dead in a parked pickup truck with two helium tanks beside him—a discovery that prompted a bomb scare at the Seaford train station on Thursday morning.

Nassau County police said the victim, a white man in his early to mid 30s, appears to have committed suicide. He was pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived shortly after 8 a.m.

The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was found with a bag over his head. Two pink tanks that were in the 2-door Toyota pickup truck were initially mistaken for propane tanks.

Arson/Bomb Squad detectives responded along with the Emergency Services Unit, Homicide Squad, Fire Marshals and HazMat investigators.

It was unclear if the man left a note.
