A woman was killed after her car crashed in Westbury on Friday morning, Nassau County police reported.

Detectives said that 58-year-old Bertha Falla of Westbury was driving westbound on Old Country Road near Tennyson Avenue at 6:19 a.m. when she swerved to avoid another vehicle. Her 2011 Toyota then veered off the road and hit a utility pole and bench.

Falla was taken to Nassau University Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 7:12 a.m.

The vehicle was impounded and according to detectives there is no apparent criminality.
