Once again people like Jon Cooper can not get it right. Instead of going to the root of the problem, he tries to nail the little guy. The mamma pop shop. It's a lot easier to target a pet store than the federal government. And Jon I must say Bravo - you really know how to pick the crowd pleaser issues. Limit small business, instead of limiting big inefficient and incompetent big government.. Government fails to close puppy mills Jon Cooper believes the public is too dumb to walk into a pet store, ask the right questions and draw the right conclusions. Instead of educating the public and keep them aware of things,, government would like to think for you, because they do not think you are capable of making the right choices. Limiting our freedoms and killing small business is what they do best. People like Jon Cooper need to be watched,,, not pet store owners.

If this doesn’t pass or get defeated on a technicality, we need to pass a law requiring MINIMUM HOUSING SPACE for a puppy and a per animal minimum. Also needed is regular vet visits, minimum and maximum temperature (climate control) and ventilation requirements.
I think there also should be a requirement to document and disclose the SOURCE of all puppies sold in retail stores.
AKC registration and USDA compliance and the like are meaniningless.

dear right to bear arms: the shelters do NOT BREED THE ANIMALS THEY HAVE. if they do, they are not a shelter, they are a puppy mill. period. shelters do have thousands upon thousands of dogs and cats simply because of puppy mills and people who do not spay/neuter their pets. do a little research ok?

Here come the Nazi’s to outlaw something else.

The problem isn’t the pet store. It’s not the customer. It’s the puppy mill. Unfortunately, the government doesn’t want to earn its keep and enforce the laws it is sworn to uphold.

And to those who would suggest the shelters are a good alternative, don’t kid yourself. The most successful shelters are just like the puppy mills. Only thing is they have less crowded conditions and feed them a little better. Not to mention they charge as much as the pet stores for their “Free” adoptions.

If you want to be mad, be mad at the government for not doing its job yet again.

I fully agree that all pets store should be against the law!!! MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dogs and cats are put to sleep every year, over crowded at shelters, and all the abuses against defenseless animals – FOR WHAT??? ALL GREED!!!

Adopt pets that cost nothing at shelter screaming for homes that ended up there from ignorants who treat it like piece of furniture

I support that LAW and private breeders should be regulated strictly to control the over population.

My family have rescued and took in endless cats and dogs during our life time because of greed and neglect by those who threw them out!
