I think reporters mention military service because it is shorthand for a given level of weapons training – training a civilian is unlikely to have. I don’t think it goes back to Vietnam, which most people couldn’t find on a map anymore. Americans have a very short attention span, and don’t even remember the first US Gulf War!

The stories being printed have made no sense: Claiming he lost his job and MEDICAL BENEFITS, as we know, veterans have medical through the VA. I also do not believe that a single pharmacy is allowed to stockpile over 10,000 units of Oxycodone. If it were true that 10,000 units were kept on short order, the local area has a serious drug habit–pills expire–10,000 in such a small time window?

Please explain to me why reporters insist on qualifying alleged criminals with the “Military Veteran” handle? What the heck does his being a veteran have to do with it? Why not mention his ethnic background too? It has nothing to do with it. It doesn’t enhance or clarify anything and only serves to infere that being a veteran almost gives him a partial pass since we all know that veterans are mentally unbalanced!

What a crock of poop! I guess the only thing I can have solace in is that the dreaded “Viet Nam” veteran handle is pretty much diluted. I read that comment for decades by foolish reporters. Now we just call them veterans or Iraq veterans. The Nam vets are all either dead, or done breaking laws~
