If this is such a good deal then let the Islanders, their miniscule fan base and the surrounding businesses that might benefit pick up the tab. Why should millions of Nassau taxpayers subsidize the recreational activities of a few thousand (if that many) people.

With the Yankees, Mets, Ducks and Brooklyn Cyclones so close, why would we need another minor league park that would again only be of interest to a small minority of Nassau residents.

This whole deal is just wrong.

Is it just me or does Charles Wang have buggy praying mantis looking eyes?
As far as this $400 million dollar bond being proposed for Nassau while it's bankrupt well good luck there.
BTW this whole proposed project won't get done for anything less than a billion dollars.
I love how our County Executive.. Mr. 51st State Ed Mangano wants to hold this referendum vote on an off calender day in August (which by simply doing so will cost the County Tax payers additional millions just to hold the vote) knowing full well that the majority of apathetic Nassau voters won't likely even bother to show up to vote.
Personally I say NO WAY to this taxpayer funded welfare for billionaire Charles Wang, we the people of Nassau County are already being taxed beyond reason. NO MORE!

Hell no!

Nassau county has no money, and for the foreseable future will have no excess money.
Nassau County already has too many bonds for too many things in the market. Sports venues never really make the jobs they promise. If this does not work out, Nassau County will be on the hook for the bonds.

When was the last time any major construction project was completed on time. This is a boondongle to try to hide the budget issues under "future income" and the investment for our future. If the Islanders were a better team maybe it be would worth while, but they are not a big draw, neither is a monor league baseball team to warrent this cost. I wonder why the cassino was moved from Belmont to the Nassau Coliseum location.

I don't think the politicians seen supporting this new plan actually think it will pass. How could it in this recovery-that-still-feels-like-a-recession environment? After completely botching the project up to this point, they just want the cover a public "no" vote will give them when fans come looking to assign blame when the Islanders pack up and leave in 2015. "It wasn't us," the politicians will say. "Blame the people who voted against the bond issue."
