Nicki Minaj Super Bass : Super Bass Music Video

by Jessica Sinclair on May 6, 2011

"Super Bass" Video Screen Shot

Nicki Minaj released a new music video for her latest single “Super Bass,” last night.

“Super Bass” serves as the fifth single from her debut studio album, Pink Friday. It was originally a bonus track on the deluxe edition but was released on the radio in April after Minaj told 102.7 KIIS FM that Taylor Swift’s unsolicited promotion of the song prompted her to release it as a single.

The video was reportedly directed by Sanaa Hamri and premiered for the first time last night on BET’s “106 & Park.”

Minaj takes center stage with this one, which is a change for the petite singer, who is usually rapping beside a fellow rapper (think Lil Wayne). It’s a success. Through “Super Bass,” Minaj goes a little more pop with an upbeat hook that really sticks.

“Boy you got my heart beat and it’s running away, beating like a drum and it’s coming your way,” sings Minaj.

The lighter side of Minaj is nice to see, definitely a great song for a Britney Spears tour- she will be going on tour with her this summer. According to MTV, Minaj said that the song is about the boy “You are crushing over,” and for the video she just wanted to do something “Real colorful and cutesy.” Minaj said, “This is an icy world, it’s a sexy world, it’s a playful world. Of course I have lots of eye candy for my girls and my boys.”

Minaj doesn’t totally leave her crazy rapping skills, that everyone loves her for, behind. Between her upbeat, smooth hook, Minaj comes back with verses like this one,”Yes I did, yes I did, somebody please tell him who the eff I is I am Nicki Minaj, I mack them dudes up, back coupes up, and chuck the deuce up.”

She doesn’t change her look either, it would break her fan’s hearts. In the video, she appears with a pink and green wig and shares the screen with Barbie- approved props; a pink Lamborghini, pink plane and a pink pool. The coolest part of the video is when Minaj appears glowing in the dark with glowing lips, hair and makeup.

We can all thank Taylor Swift, this is definitely a side of Minaj we want to see more of.

“Boom, badoom, boom, boom, badoom, boom, he got that super bass,” sings Minaj.

Wedding & Event FAQ
Q- Does the flower girl have to wear white or ivory to match the bride?

A-Your flower girl can wear any colored dress, which of course coordinates with the rest of your wedding party. If you choose for her to wear white or ivory, you can accent the dress with the bridal party color sash or appliqué. She can also wear the color of the bridal party and to differentiate her, you can add a white or ivory sash. Choose something that you feel will coordinate best with the rest of your bridal party.
