A mother has been arrested for setting her Hempstead apartment on fire, burning herself and one of her infant daughter two weeks ago, Nassau County police said.
Hempstead Fire Department fire fighters responded to the Edgewood Court house fire at 4 p.m. April 13. Natashia Reed and her 5-month-old daughter were taken to Nassau University Medical Center treatment of second-degree burns, but her 3-year-old son was not hurt.
Arson/Bomb Squad detectives and Nassau County Fire Marshalls determined that Reed intentionally started the in the kitchen, although a police spokeswoman did not say how.
The 25-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with arson, assault and reckless endangerment.
She will be arraigned bedside at NUMC.
