A 65-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to killing a woman during a 1995 robbery in Westbury.
Paul Sampson of Hempstead was arraigned Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of 60-year-old Vilma Portillo.
Nassau County Police Detective Lt. John Azzata said Sampson was linked to the shooting after a recent re-examination of DNA evidence from the crime scene.
Sampson was arrested Wednesday at his Hempstead home.
Police said Portillo shot the Westbury woman in a parking lot of her employer, EZ-EM Corp. on Main Street on Sept. 14, 1995.
The victim, who worked numerous jobs, was carrying about $4,000.
Sampson was ordered held without bail. The name of his lawyer was not immediately known.
