420: Wednesday is 420, What Does 4/20 Mean?

Of course, this isn’t an actual bank holiday, and post offices and banks will be open. It’s not even a real holiday at all, but let’s take a look at how it got started anyway.

There are a lot of theories, but the most accepted explanation is that 420 was reportedly started at 4:20 p.m., the time each day, a group of California high school students would meet to look for and smoke pot back in 1971.

Today, nearly a half century later, 420 (pronounced four twenty) has become synonymous with smoking marijuana.
