Town of Islip Launches Twitter Account

by Rashed Mian on April 12, 2011

The Town of Islip has joined Twitter as a new way to reach out to constituents.

The town began tweeting Friday, initially promoting a new anti-graffiti initiative.

The town hopes to “keep constituents informed of important events and announcements concerning our town,” the town said in a statement.

“As well as announcements, we hope to expand our Twitter platform in a way that allows members of our community to interact with Town Hall,” Supervisor Phil Nolan said. “By setting up this account, we join an online community that is rapidly expanding and easily accessible to anyone with a computer or mobile device.”

The account name will be: @TownofIslip.
