Honda Motor Co. is recalling new models of the Honda Civic due to fuel leaking.
The company said that a plastic case covering a valve in the fuel pump module could break or crack, which may lead to a fuel leak in a roll-over crash. The leaking fuel could then lead to a fire.
The recall covers more than 18,000 2011 Civics in the United States and about 3,600 in Canada. The company said that only 1 percent of the recalled vehicles will likely have the problem.
Honda said that no crashes or injuries have been reported related to the defect.
The recall is expected to begin by April 11. Honda deals will check the fuel pump module and replace it if necessary free of charge.
