Bart Scott couldn’t wait to trademark his catchy catch phrase.
The Jets’ loquacious linebacker tells ESPN on Friday he has trademarked, “Can’t Wait!” after the phrase that punctuated a postgame rant following New York’s 28-21 playoff victory over the New England Patriots became an Internet sensation.
Scott tells ESPN during an interview in Orlando, Fla., that the phrase “took on a life of its own” and that once he heard people wanted to feature it on T-shirts, “if anybody is going to benefit off ‘Can’t Wait!’ it should be me.”
Scott, an avid pro wrestling fan, also participated in a TNA Wrestling event last week. He helped Hulk Hogan, his idol, during a performance that was taped last week in Fayetteville, N.C., and aired Thursday night.
