IHOP: National Pancake Day at IHOP

Tuesday is National Pancake Day at IHOP. To celebrate this monumental event, IHOP is giving away a free short stack of the fluffy delights, from 7:00 am to 10:00pm. With every free short stack served IHOP only asks that its patrons leave a donation for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Since 2006 IHOP has been holding this event to help raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as well as other local charities.

Since the events start in 2006 IHOP has been able to raise over 5.35 million dollars in support of various charities and given away over 10 million of their famous buttermilk pancakes. Last year alone the IHOP raised more than 2.1 million dollars. And this year the chain of pancakes houses hopes to raise 2.3 million for charity.

Historically called Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day goes back centuries in England. Centuries ago stern church rules restricted the use and eating of all dairy items for the duration of Lent, so typically pancakes were cooked up in abundance to help consume the excess dairy items like milk, butter, and eggs.
