The Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City Thunder agreed to a trade on Thursday right before the trade deadline. The Celtics will send Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson to the Thunder for Jeff Green and Nenad Kirstic, according to ESPN.
Perkins could be a risk since he missed 43 games this season after suffering a knee injury in last year’s NBA Finals.
Perkins has played in 12 games this season averaging 7.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, after he came back halfway through the season.
The Celtics might have questions about Perkins’ durability, but the trade was still a little surprising considering Perkins is a tough player in the middle, that would help the Celtics in the playoffs if they face off against the Magic, or even the Lakers in the Finals.
Green will join the team that drafted him in 2007 but was dealt in the trade that brought Ray Allen to the Celtics.
The Thunder agreeing to trade Green is also surprising because he was the third leading scorer on the team, averaging 15.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season.
As for Nate Robinson, this will be the third team he has played for in his NBA career. The three-time dunk champion seems to have had more success in the All-Star Weekend show, than in actual games.
In 55 games this season, Robinson has averaged 7.1 points and only 1.9 assists per game, mostly off the bench.
