Daytona 500: Trevor Bayne Wins Daytona 500

History was made at the Daytona 500 on Sunday when Trevor Bayne became the youngest driver ever to win NASCAR’s most famous race.

Bayne, 20, in only his second Sprint Cup start, stunned the NASCAR world winning the race in overtime, holding off Carl Edwards to become the youngest winner since Jeff Gordon, who won the race in 1997 at the age of 25.

“This is so crazy. I don’t even know what to say,” Bayne said after Sunday’s win. “I almost feel undeserving because … all these guys out here that are racing against us that have been trying to do this for so long.”

The racing world came together on the same day to celebrate the life of Dale Earnhardt who died 10 years ago. Fan favorite, and Earnhardt’s son Dale Earnhardt Jr., was involved in a wreck and finished in 24th place.

Some of the biggest names in the game were taken out early in the race in a 14-car wreck.

Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson, who were involved in the wreck, finished in 28th and 27th place.
