A woman was arrested for vehicular assault for allegedly driving while high on drugs after she caused a seven-car crash in Merrick on Friday morning, Nassau County police said.
Alexandra Vargas Bradley was driving a Lexus eastbound on Sunrise Highway when she rear-ended a Dodge Suburban stopped at the corner of Dobson Avenue, which pushed the SUV into the vehicle in front of it, causing a chain reaction of four additional vehicles at 10:55 a.m., police said.
The 41-year-old Massapequa woman’s vehicle then struck two parked cars before coming to a stop, police said.
The 68-year-old man who was driving the SUV was airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center where he was admitted in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the vehicle the SUV hit and the driver of the vehicle in front of that were taken to area hospitals where they were treated and released.
Bradley was taken to NUMC where she was found to be in possession of prescription butalbital.
She charged with vehicular assault, assault, driving while ability impaired, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
She will be arraigned when practical, police said.
