A Patchogue man was arrested for shooting a man in the leg during a fight at a Freeport bar early Wednesday morning, Nassau County police said.
Nashaun Hammonds got into an argument with a 28-year-old man at the Retro Lounge Bar on Brooklyn Avenue when the fight escalated and Hammonds shot the victim in the left upper thigh with a .38 caliber handgun at 2:53 a.m., police said.
The victim was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.
The alleged gunman was apprehended about eight hours later. He was charged with assault, criminal use of firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.
Hammonds will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
