Comedian Charlie Callas died Thursday at a Las Vegas hospice at the age of 83.
Callas had a four-decade-long career in television, the big screen and casino stages and was a regular on variety and comedy shows. He toured with Frank Sinatra and Tom Jones and appeared as a guest on shows hosted by Merv Griffin, Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, Andy Williams and Flip Wilson.

“Everybody that met him, he left them with a smile,” Callas’ son Mark said.
Callas was banned from the Tonight Show in 1982 after pushing Johnny Carson off his chair.
Callas grew up in Brooklyn and served in the army during World War II. He later became a drummer with big bands starring Tommy Dorsey and Buddy Rich.
Funeral arrangments are being made at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas.
