Willow Smith To Star In Remake Of Annie

Rumors are swirling today that Will Smith’s daughter, Willow, will be playing the role of Annie in a remake of the classic Broadway play. Willow, 9, will portray an updated version of the orphan, Annie, who is taken in by a rich mogul.


The Rapper, Jay-Z will play a part in the making, as he will team up with Overbrook Entertainment to create the movie. Jay-Z , who first signed Willow to his record label,Roc Nation, is responsible for her hit song “Whip My Hair.”

According to Hollywood Reporter, Jay-Z Said, “The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision. We’ve already produced a Tony Award winning play and we’re developing a true superstar in Willow.”

Willow is the daughter of Hollywood star’s Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith. She has two older brothers, Jaden Smith and Trey Smith. She made her acting debut in I Am Legend alongside her father. She also starred in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl in 2008.

She is currently signed to Roc Nation and released the song “Whip My Hair,” which became an instant hit. Yesterday she released a 15-second preview of her new single “21st Century Girl.”
