In my estimation this situation with the animals has been going on for a long time. Also I think it’s deplorable the high salaries that these people are getting. I know one person in particular who spent more time at home being on the clock when they should have be at work. About five years ago I reported this to Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, and also people from the D A’s Office complaining about the situation, that employees are getting paid for a full day, when coming home after 3 hours of work. All my complaints when on deaf ears and now it’s time that the people should take a stand and investigate these employees who are not doing their job properly.

The protesters at the shelter only stopped the visitors from comfortable entering the shelter. The volunteers have not done any active, helpful volunteering so no one is stopping them from anything, banned from trouble making is more like it.

so many things odd about this story, especially following the one about north shore animal league. does north shore rescue animals from the hempstead town shelter? or just missouri?
and what exactly is the protest group banned from doing, that they do out of love?
and deery saying his people are qualified because they passed civil service tests and have experience? is that qualified? taxi drivers get a hack license and drive every day for a living, does that make them good drivers?

i think this reporter should have gotten a lot more details. dan, why not go into the restaurant business like your brother sal.

Well Mr. Deery educate us, explain why the shelter payroll is $3 million dollars. Give us the titles and salaries of the employees used to take care of 300 animals.
