A 56-year-old West Hempstead man has been accused of creating child pornography that he then shared on the Internet last year.
Nassau County police charged Thomas Ball with 13 counts each of promoting a sexual performance of a child and possessing a sexual performance of a child.
Computer Crimes Section Squad detectives said Ball, of 542 Linden St., manufactured and distributed a known and identified child pornography image to numerous people while using AOL mail on his Optimum online service between June 16 and Sept. 16.
Ball was taken to a local hospital suffering from anxiety and will be arraigned bedside on Friday, police said.
