Sound Smart At A Party: Week of Jan. 13 – Jan. 19, 2011

Just because you’re always dressed in a tuxedo doesn’t mean you’re always proper and well behaved. A baby penguin at a German zoo snuck out of her enclosure and waddled straight into the lions’ den. A visitor spotted the African penguin checking out the lions’ digs. Luckily the lions were asleep inside due to the cold weather. It took zookeepers a day to get the penguin out of the den, finally luring her out with a trail of herrings. After the ordeal, the zoo named her Leona. Up until then she had only been known as Number 459…

Italian Darco Sangermano was celebrating New Year’s Eve with his girlfriend in Naples when he was hit in the temple by a bullet shot off during the celebrations. The bullet went through the right side of the 28-year-old’s head, moved behind his eye socket and finally lodged in his nasal passage. Surgeons removed splinters of bone that the bullet had left behind, and he will undergo laser surgery in coming weeks to repair damage to his retina. He is expected to make a full recovery and will not lose sight from the eye…

When the volunteers saw someone on their own or with those of their same age group they were fairly accurate in guessing the person’s age. The study also stated that: “The founder of the Playboy magazine might be surprised by these findings because he prefers to surround himself with young women, not knowing that they make him look much older.” And creepier, but that’s a finding of our own unofficial study…

A man by that exact name was wanted in Hill County, so Gonsalez was arrested anyway. During a search police found half a gram of methamphetamine in his jacket pocket, and after he admitted his real identity, he was given two more charges: criminal possession of dangerous drugs and issuing a false report to law enforcement…
