Since Tuesday the National Weather Service has reported that 49 out of the 50 states in the country has snow on the ground.
The only state without snow is Florida. Even Hawaii has seven inches of snow atop Mauna Kea. A little over 70 percent of the United States is currently covered in snow, which is more than double the number in December.
Meteorologists say that although this is very rare, it has happened before. On Feb. 10, 2010, 49 out of 50 states were white. During that occurrence Hawaii was the odd one out. On Jan. 19, 1977, all states with the exception of South Carolina had snow.
There have been no reports of all 50 states having snow at once.
