Right before the holidays editor-in-chief of French Vogue Carine Rotifeld announced that she would be stepping down from her position, leaving us all to speculate on who might be filling her fabulous shoes.
New York Magazine’s fashion blog The Cut reports that a new rumor is going around on a possible replacement. Emmanuelle Alt is one of the top contenders, if not the front runner. The fashion director of French Vogue has been a constant presence in the fashion world not only due to her prestigious position but for her own personal style.
Roitfeld, who’s direction at Vogue Paris earned the magazine record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success, announced an amicable resignation from the magazine’s top job Friday, Dec. 17.
“It’s 10 years that I’m editor of the magazine,” Ms. Roitfeld, she told the New York Times in a telephone interview. “I think it’s time to do something different.”
Roitfeld is set to resign by the end of January so the announcement of her successor is sure to come soon. Though Conde Nast France has not yet announced they have come to a decision they will most likely make a decisioin about Alt within the next week a source tells The Cut. Other possible contenders for the top spot are Virginie Mouzat, the fashion editor of Le Figaro whose nude self-portrait recently appeared on Purple‘s blog.
