Despite what every teen movie tells you, what you do in high school really does affect the rest of your life. A new study found that high school students who earn good grades are likely to be healthier as adults. More than 10,000 graduates from  a high school class of 1957 were interviewed over the course of the past 53 years. The findings showed that the individuals with higher grades had a lower likelihood of worsening health as they approached retirement age…

A new survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) reported that over the course of an average year, 30 million Americans drive drunk and 10 million drive under the influence of drugs. The states with the highest rates of drunk driving were Wisconsin and North Dakota, and Rhode Island and Vermont were the top two states with drugged driving…

A stranger who performed CPR on a dying man in Florida also stole his wife’s purse. The woman had run into a Circle K store and said that her husband was having a heart attack. An unidentified man said that he knew CPR and went outside to help. After the paramedics arrived, he reached into their car and grabbed the purse and a jacket. He even hugged the woman before she left for the hospital, where her husband died shortly after…

A gray and white kitty named Scrub was reunited with his family five years after he was lost during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The Humane Society of South Mississippi said that the 7-year-old feline was identified by a microchip after he was brought to the shelter by a woman who had been feeding him as a stray and was worried about his safety during a cold spell. Jennifer Noble, Scrubs owner, said that she was initally skeptical when she received the call that the shelter had found her cat. However, Scrubs was snuggled in bed with one of her boys by the end of his first night back…

A new federal report showed that life expectancy in the United States dropped from 2007 to 2008 from 77.9 to 77.8 years. Heart disease and cancer accounted for 48 percent of all deaths in 2008, and chronic lower respiratory diseases including asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis were the third leading cause of death. This is the first time in 50 years that stroke was not the third. There was also a rise in deaths due to Alzheimer’s disease, influenza and pneumonias, high blood pressure, suicide and kidney disease… 

We now know what every celebrity eats for lunch courtesy of social networking site Twitter. This being said, only around eight percent of all U.S. adults tweet. The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project asked approximately 2,250 in November whether or not they used Twitter. Only eight percent said yes, and two percent reported that they logged on daily. The site is most popular among young adults between 18 and 29 years old, minorities and city residents…
