LOL!!! As I always say.. NASA is full of BS.. I sometimes feel like slapping them for lying so profusely. How come NASA’s nose never grow long enough to touch the ground?? I mean, microbes??? Come on, as if we earthlings are the biggest idiots in the universe who don’t know that there are microbes all over the universe (why the hell is sterilizing done once the astronauts come back from space?).. I think NASA should seriously keep its trap shut till it finds a macro-organism, atleast the size of a mosquito, rather than saying blatant lies about “earth shattering” revelations. Probably by that time, we will be so immune to their crap that even if they announce that there are indeed little green men on Mars, no one will even care.. They should seriously stop repeating the shepherd and the wolf story.

The writer who claims this is not new news is incorrect.

The 2005 article has to do with microorganisms that could _breathe_ arsenic, not build their structures and DNA with arsenic.

And the 2008 is simply a conjecture.

Today what we have is proof that microorganisms can not just breathe arsenic, but can build themselves out of it, and the conjecture of the 2008 article is for all practical purposes proven

What we have now is knowledge that Earth essentially has two trees of life, not one as we’ve thought. The implications are _huge_. Life may have many, many trees of life throughout the universe.

Seriously? This is their big news? We’ve known about extremophiles here on earth for decades. They’ve been looking for water-based life all this time and never thought that there are other lifeforms that we know of on our own planet that might exist elsewhere?

This is OLD news!
The announcement has to be MUCH more than a simple arsenic microbe being discovered because that story was ALREADY reported in May 2005!
FIVE years ago people. Why would this be a major announcement if that is all there is to report now? Get with the story! NPR also reported this years ago as well! Here’s the link for proof.
