Mastic Beach Man Drove Over 100 MPH With Kids In Car

A Mastic Beach man was arrested Friday night for driving recklessly with children in the car, Suffolk County police said.

An officer observed a 2001 Hyundai driving erratically, weaving in and out of traffic lanes and driving at speeds more than 100 miles per hour heading west on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook. After pulling the vehicle over, police noticed two young children were in the car, one without a car seat.


Erik Reyes, 26, of Mastic Beach, the driver of the car, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child., among other charges.

The children were returned to the custody of their mother. It is not clear if the children were related to Erik Reyes.
