Nicolosi, 53, is a longtime civic leader and retired truck driver who beat the Democratic Party’s pick in the primary last month in the race to replace outgoing Assemblyman Thomas Alfano (R-North Valley Stream). Among other initiatives, the former union official wants to reform the state pension system, end the practice of double-dipping, stop Long Island’s brain drain and develop the area around Belmont Racetrack. He also supports consolidating special taxing districts.
