Zeldin is a 30-year-old Iraq War veteran and a former federal prosecutor who recently started his own law office in Smithtown. A former aide to Senator LaValle, Zeldin previously ran for Congress against Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) in 2008. He may be the GOP’s best hope of taking back the senate, or at least narrowing the majority.
