Costumed robbers have struck again.
Two people wearing gorilla costumes and a third donning a chicken suit robbed a 15-year-old boy of his bicycle in Rocky Point on Monday, Suffolk County police said.
The trio confronted the teenager while he was riding his bicycle on Route 25A at 1:15 p.m. One of the apes punched the victim in the head, causing him to fall off of the bicycle, when the chicken took off on the bicycle and the two gorillas ran away.
The victim was taken to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
An armed man in a Darth Vader costume robbed a Suffolk bank in July and a man in a Scream mask armed with a handgun unsuccessfully tried to rob a Farmingdale donut shop last week. Both suspects are still at large.
Seventh Squad detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 631-852-8752 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
