Nicola Tesla was screwed by the American system of Capitalism, that values greed, and profit over altruism. Filo Farnsworth, the inventor of television, was also cheated out of his patents by George Westinghouse, who offered him a pittance for them, then stole them when he refused. Farnsworth was driven to suicide after losing his fortune, company, and wife. Tesla’s patent for the AC induction motor, the basis for most modern appliances, which Westinghouse took from him without just compensation, made Westinghouse wealthy. Tesla designed and supervised construction of the hydroelectric generators at Niagara Falls, which we all still benefit from to this day. DC electricity, Edison’s idea for power generation, would have been disastrous, requiring Generating Stations every 10 miles! AC power, Tesla’s invention, made the modern industrial age possible, by allowing efficient transmission of power over long distances. Modern civilization, and industry owe Tesla a debt of gratitude. His other laboratories were unceremoniously shipped off to Serbia, this one should be preserved. Imagine what other benefits society could have reaped, had industry and government supported Tesla financially and socially.

Nicola Tesla is another genius inventor who was taken financial advantage of by America’s aggressive Capitalistic System which places greed above good. George Westinghouse also screwed Filo Farnsworth, the inventor of television, stole his patents, and drove him to suicide. Tesla designed and supervised the construction of the hydroelectric generators at Niagara falls, which we all still benefit from today. If he had been supported, by industry and government, just imagine what benefits we could have reaped. Teslas’ other lab equipment was shipped of to Serbia,unceremoniuosly. What wonderous information could we ahve learned from it, if it had been preserved in this country? Unfortunately, we will never know.

Nicola Tesla is the most underrated scientist and I really dont know why.The man was absolutely brilliant and should be heralded with the greats like Einstein,Bell and Edison.And to tell you the honest truth,I believe Tesla was smarter than Edison,BUT,modern day society will not acknowledge him.It’s abhorrent that the state or the county doesnt make that area into a museum honoring his electrical legacy.Everyone that uses A/C power owes Tesla a thank you. People forget that he INVENTED it!!

THIS PLACE SHOULD A HISTORIC LAND MARK. IT SHOULD BE PRESERVED! FORGET STICKING CHEAP BUDGET HOUSING ON THIS LAND. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE REFURBISHED AND BROUGHT BACK TO GLORY. THAT TUNNEL SHOULD BE DUG OUT AND PRESERVED. EVEN IF YOU WERE TO PUT HOUSING ON LAND LIKE THIS IT WOULD TAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND MULTIPLE YEARS TO UNDO THE ECOLOGICAL DAMAGE, FOR THAT KIND OF PRICE TAG & TIME LINE WHY NOT JUST MAKE IT INTO A MUSEUM? THEY SAID THEY WON’T DONATE IT TO A NON-PROFIT ORG, BUT IF SOMEONE WITH SOME $$ WHO GAVE A CRAP ABOUT THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE BOUGHT THIS LAND AND TURNED IT INTO A MUSEUM IT WOULD BE QUITE THE ATTRACTION, NOT TO MENTION POSSIBLY BEING ABLE TO FINISH TESLA’S WORK, WHICH ITSELF WOULD BE PRICELESS. BREAKS MY HEART.

What a shame! Such a brillant man to be tossed away like trash. I would like to see this spot made into a museum to honor his accomplishments and him.
