Over the 20-year period, 69 percent of the non-drinkers died, 60 percent of the heavy drinkers died and 41 percent of the moderate drinkers died. The Indonesian toddler has reportedly kicked the habit. Two-year-old Ardi Rizal caused a media frenzy last spring after a video surfaced that showed the toddler puffing away on a cigarette. He was placed into state custody, and his parents said he would cry and throw tantrums if he went too long without a smoke. Rizal, who was said to have been smoking 40 cigarettes a day, went through a 30-day rehabilitation program. However, the effects of the boy’s addiction still linger. According to Earth Times, the heavy smoking caused his brain to shrink, and could cause other health problems later on in his life.
Now this is a brassy move. A homeless man in Oregon trespassed into a home’s hot tub and then called 911 from his cell phone to ask for towels, hot chocolate and a hug. Mark Eskelsen first identified himself as “the sheriff of Washington County,” but later on admitted he wasn’t the sheriff. He told the dispatcher he had been yelling for about an hour and a half because he had been in the water for almost 10 hours and his towels had gotten wet. He told dispatcher “I just need a hug and a warm cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows in it.” He was arrested for trespassing and improper use of 911, but come on, was he really asking for all that much?

Lassie has nothing on these Italian dogs. They are Italy’s corps of canine lifeguards, hundreds of specially trained dogs who jump from helicopters or speeding boats to save swimmers on beaches. The “lifedogs” wear a harness or tow a buoy that allows victims to grab on. They sometimes wear a raft the person can sit on while the pups guide them back to safety. It takes three years for the dogs to complete their training, and any breed can be used, as long as they weigh at least 66 pounds. There are currently 300 dogs trained for duty. Now this is why we call them man’s best friend, amirite?
A man in Germany was shot in the back of his head, but it took him five years to find out about it. Police said the 35-year-old was shot while he was out in the street partying on New Year’s Eve five years ago. The man, who was drunk at the time, says he recalled receiving a blow to the head, but didn’t seek any medical assistance. He went to the doctor recently after feeling a lump on the back of his head and an X-ray revealed the bullet, which did not penetrate his skull but was under his skin.
