Even though the beaches were empty at Jones Beach on Friday due to gray skies thanks to Hurricane Earl, restoration continued on the famous 231-foot tall Jones Beach Water Tower—rain, wind and all.

In Suffolk County, rough surf continued to batter the shoreline at Robert Moses beaches and erosion had taken it’s toll leaving little room for the crowds that are sure to rush in when Earl passes.
But construction on a new bridge—which is being built due to flaws in the cement used in the original bridge’s construction discovered by the New York State Department of Transportation in 2004—continued on the Robert Moses Causeway as the rain came down.
