A woman severed part of her left arm in an industrial accident while using a packaging machine in Farmingdale on Friday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.
Beatriz Blas’s arm got stuck in a machine at Brand Packaging Group Inc. on Price Parkway at 2:40 p.m., police said. A co-worker heard her scream, found Blas, freed her and retrieved her arm.
The 37-year-old Wyandanch woman and her severed limb were airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, and subsequently airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition. Doctors are attempting to reattach her arm.
Members of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) responded and are continuing the investigation along with First Squad detectives.
