Academy Award-winning actor Michael Douglas has some sad news. He announced Monday that he will undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy to treat a tumor that doctors discovered in his throat.
Douglas said in a statement that he is “very optimistic” about his prognosis. There was no word on whether the 65 -year-old actor has cancer, but considering he will be going through chemo, it is likely the tumor is malignant.
This news tops off a rough year for Douglas, who dealt with the 5-year prison sentence of his 31-year-old son Cameron in May. Cameron Douglas was convicted of selling methamphetamine. His father shouldered a large portion of the blame for Cameron, who has battled drug addiction since age 13.
