Service was disrupted on the Long Island Rail Road after a body was discovered on the tracks in Mineola.
MTA police were notified of the discovery at about 10:25 a.m. Monday. It was not clear how the person ended up on the tracks. The victim’s gender was not identified.
LIRR spokesman Rich Mendelson says customers using the Oyster Bay branch were being offered bus service after one eastbound and one westbound train were canceled as a result of the ivvestigation.
The discovery comes two days after a person was fatally struck by a westbound train east of the Bellport LIRR station shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday. The identity of that victim was not immediately available either.
Service was suspended for more than two hours on the Montauk branch while investigators were on the scene in that case.
