Robert,

Thanks for the heads up. I was just going off my own memory -- I'm still pretty sure he hasn't played the States with a band since Ghosts (and that was more of a string section plus Koutsos on drums, not a rock band). That said, I certainly could have missed it (though if I did, I'd be pretty devastated).

I've seen Red House Painters a few times and the aforementioned SKM lineup, as well as Koz solo, of course. I'd love to see whatever lineup it was that you saw. Sounds amazing.

Enjoyed your article, but just to let you know, Sun Kil Moon toured as a full band in 2008 I think it was, I saw them play in Dublin, and it was a fantastic gig. It was after the "April" album, and the band played cuts from that record as well as highlights from both RHP and Sun Kil Moon's other albums. Full band, the songs were amazing, and it was a different gig to Kozelek's solo shows, which is all about his voice and the fragile nature of his performance. The full band show had much more energy and volume.

The standout moment was "Heron Blue" from "April", where all members were playing guitar parts (even the drummer). It was a moment that took my breath away like no other live performance has before or since.
