Out with the old (or not-so-old), in with the new. The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury is now known as The NYCB Theatre at Westbury.
The new moniker is the result of a multi-year agreement that grants New York Community Bancorp, owner of several local banks including New York Community Bank and New York Commercial Bank, the naming rights to the theater.
The venue, which is located at 960 Brush Hollow Rd., was originally constructed in 1966 at the site of an abandoned lime pit and became known as the Westbury Music Fair. Since its inception it has gone through several name changes, including North Fork Theatre at Westbury and Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury. Today, it boasts 3,000 seats and a rotating stage.
As an exciting kickoff, theater organizers announced earlier this week that Full House and General Hospital star John Stamos will accompany the Beach Boys onstage at their show on Friday at 8 p.m. Stamos is no stranger to the dreamy California rock legends: He has appeared as an occasional member of The Beach Boys touring band and was featured in the video for “Kokomo” playing the conga. And who could forget him as Uncle Jesse singing the Beach Boys tune “Forever” to Aunt Becky on Full House?
