New York State officials have issued an air quality advisory for Sunday for Long Island, New York City, the lower Hudson Valley and Western New York.
The advisory for high levels of ozone will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Ground-level ozone is formed when sunlight and heat interact with smog from car exhaust and industrial emissions.
People with respiratory disease and those who do vigorous work or exercise outdoors should limit activity when ozone levels are highest, generally in the afternoon and early evening.
