A 26-year-old Queens Village man has been sentenced to 80-years-to life in prison for shooting at Nassau County police officers during a high-speed chase after an Elmont home invasion last year.
Isaac Holland was convicted on May 17 of first-degree attempted murder, robbery, burglary and criminal possession of a weapon.
Holland and three accomplices, all armed, broke into a Dorothea Lane home, bound a man and his parents with duct tape. They fled the scene in a van after stealing cell phones and cash in the early morning hours of April 4, 2009, Nassau County prosecutors said.
One victim broke free and called 911. Responding officers chased the suspects across the New York City border into Queens.
During the chase, Holland fired his .44-caliber handgun through the back window of the van, hitting the hood of the police car. The officers returned fire and the van came to a stop. The foursome was apprehended after a foot chase.
Holland’s partners all pleaded guilty to various charges.
