Time Square’s Naked Cowboy—famous for his underwear briefs, cowboy hat and guitar playing—is threatening to sue a female copycat for ripping off his act.
Sandy Kane, calling herself “The Naked Cowgirl,” is hitting the streets in an American flag themed bikini and matching cowboy hat, flashy red garter, and guitar.
The cowboy, whose real name is Robert Burck, sent a cease-and-desist letter to Kane and said he will sue for as much as $150,000.
Burck wants Kane to sign a “Naked Cowboy Franchise Agreement” if she is going to make any money posing for photos in the Big Apple. This agreement would require her to pay $5,000 a year or $500 a month and to go through a screening process, like most of his other licensed franchisees.
Kane, whose real name is Sandra Brodsky, is from New Jersey and in her 50s. The former stripper turned comedian, however, told the New York Post, that she only makes $2 a picture and is not selling any products. She does not think she owes Burck a cent.
