Former NBA center Manute Bol passed away Saturday. He had been battling acute kidney failure and skin disease Stevens-Johnson syndrome. He was 47.
Bol was known for his towering height, even amongst an NBA where most of the players stand above 6-and-a-half feet; Bol was a massive 7-foot-6.
Bol was an activist in his native Sudan; he founded Sudan Sunrise, a group that promotes reconciliation in the country.
Bol played 10 seasons in the NBA with four different teams: Washington, Golden State, Philadelphia and Miami.
