Cops: Man Followed Underage Girl

by Long Island Press on June 13, 2010

Nassau County police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who followed an underage girl Saturday in New Hyde Park and attempted to engage her in conversation.

The 14-year-old victim was walking on Leonard Boulevard when an unknown male exited a four-door sedan, began to follow the girl and tried to engage her in conversation at 4:17 p.m.

The victim got scared and began to run away, at which point the man chased after her, asking where she was going, police said. The victim continued to run toward her home and eventually the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

In addition to the sketch of the subject on the left, he is described as a white male between 40 and 50 years of age with gray hair. He was seen wearing a gray T-shirt and tan shorts, and the vehicle he exited from was a silver four-door sedan.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
