Two men were arrested following a shooting in Massapequa on Sunday morning, Nassau County police said.
An officer responding to a call reporting of gun shots fired on Central Avenue when he stopped one of two vehicles speeding northbound on Hicksville Road at 6:10 a.m., police said.
As he approached the vehicle, the driver, 26-year-old Jonathan Mills of Amityville, and the passenger, 20-year-old Bryan Grossmann of Farmingdale, switched seats, police said.
The Officer found several shell casings on the driver’s side floor and an investigation revealed that Grossmann had fired multiple rounds from a handgun on Central Avenue where he had been involved in an altercation with several individuals, police said.
Grossmann had thrown the handgun from the vehicle as they were driving from the scene, police said. After a search of the area, officers recovered the handgun on the lawn of a home at the corner of Rhode Island Avenue at Hicksville Road. The second vehicle was not located.
Grossmann was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, driving while impaired and multiple traffic law violations. Mills was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving while impaired and multiple traffic law violations.
Both will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
